What we Offer:

Franciscan Certificate Courses: for students wishing to deepen their understanding of St. Francis, St. Clare and Franciscan history, theology, spirituality, student can also take sabbaticals during their time at the Franciscan Study Centre.

Certificate in Theology: The Certificate of Theology offered by the Franciscan International Study Centre provides a comprehensive, one year course of studies in the basics of several theological disciplines inclusive of survey courses introducing the study of Scripture, Liturgy, the Sacraments, and Systematic Theology.

Certificate in Philosophy: The Certificate in Philosophy is designed to introduce students to philosophy, philosophical school and philosophical thinking.

Diploma in Theology: The Diploma of Theology is offered on completion of two years of study comprising the first two levels of the BA in Theology. It offers a comprehensive course of studies in all of the major disciplines that comprise Catholic Theology.

BA Theology: full or part-time study alongside Franciscan students preparing for solemn profession and ordination. This course provides a broad introduction to biblical studies, canon law, liturgy, philosophy and theology required for ministry in the Catholic Church.

MA Theology: in-depth investigation of several subjects in contemporary theology and biblical studies.

MA Theology: (Franciscan Studies): in-depth studies of aspects of Franciscan history, theology and spirituality, including topics of interest in contemporary spirituality.

Research Degrees: FISC lecturers supervise students for research degrees in the areas of Biblical Studies, Canon Law, Franciscan Studies and Theology.

Sabbatical Programme: For both religious and lay people seeking space to spend time in reflection, rest and gentle study.

Semester Abroad in Canterbury: twenty weeks of tuition, with a month to explore the rest of Britain and Europe.

Spiritual Direction: The Programme is based on the St Bonaventure’s Major Life of St Francis which is a theology of the spiritual life based on the life of Francis of Assisi.

Distance Learning: our programme currently offers the Award in Franciscan Spirituality and Discipleship

General course information

All our courses are modular and therefore allow for flexibility, at the discretion of the Course Director, in choosing modules from different courses to suit individual requirements. It is also possible to study all of our courses on a part-time basis.

Occasional students are also welcome to join up to three modules and to listen in as auditors, or to sign up for essays so as to work towards a Certificate or Degree.
