Wills

Leaving the Study Centre a bequest in your will is one of the simplest and most tax-effective ways of supporting our work. Since we are a charity, you are probably aware that the value of any gift to the Study Centre does not under the current law form part of your estate for the purposes of calculating liability for inheritance tax. Bequests are therefore tax free.

Donors often have very personal reasons for supporting us when making their plans. Bequests and legacies can commemorate your own time, or a loved one’s time, in the Study Centre; celebrate the influence of the Study Centre on your life, or help current students in financial difficulty.

We would be delighted to meet with you to discuss how you would wish your legacy to be used. A suggested wording for your bequest is provided below. However, we appreciate that formulating a bequest is a very personal process and so we are happy to provide further advice.

Suggested Wording for Bequests:

“I give to the Franciscan International Study Centre (FISC) the sum of £..… free of tax for the general purpose of the FISC and I declare that the receipt of the Senior Accountant for the time being of the FISC shall be a sufficient discharge to my executors. It is my preference, without creating any legal obligation, that this sum should be used for the purposes of… (e.g. relating to the FISC Bursary Fund.)”
