Climate
The sunniest parts of the United Kingdom are along the South Coast of England. Mean daily sunshine figures reach a maximum in May or June and are at their lowest in December. Rainfall in England varies widely. Typically, it rains on about one day in three in England, perhaps more often in winter. However long, dry spells do occur in most years. Over England the mean annual temperature varies from about 8.5°C to 11°C. July is normally the warmest month with the highest temperature of 38.5°C ever recorded near Faversham in Kent in 2003. Snow is comparatively rare near sea level and much of the coastline enjoys good visibility.

Currency
UK currency is known as British Sterling. Under this system 100 pence is equal to one pound. The symbol used for pounds is £, sometimes shown as GBP , and p is used for pence. Thus, two pounds forty pence could be written £2.40 or GBP 2.40 Currently, there are 1,2,5,10,20 and 50 pence pieces, 1 and 2 pound coins, 5,10,20 and 50 pound notes. While the euro is accepted in many shops and locations, the UK’s currency remains the £.

English Language Capability
If English is not your first language you will need to demonstrate an ability in the language to study at the Centre. This could be demonstrated by a score of IELTS 6, the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) Grade C or TOEFL 600-800. Where a student’s level of English is not sufficient, students may be required to attend English classes prior to joining their chosen course.
